  Mr. Stephen Mak
Government Chief Information Officer
Government of Hong Kong SAR, Hong Kong

Stephen Mak is now the Government Chief Information Officer (GCIO) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. His Office is responsible for assisting in formulating policies and strategies and overseeing the implementation of initiatives and programmes to drive the further development of information technology (IT) in Hong Kong.

As GCIO, Mr Mak manages the government IT budget, investment and oversees the governance of government IT programmes. He is the Government's principal advisor on the government IT infrastructure, architectures and systems. He leads and coordinates implementation of the cross-agency E-government programme, championing the adoption of new information technologies and the development of innovative applications, services and content. He is the Head of the IT professionals in the Hong Kong civil service. He also leads efforts in promoting IT in the community and the business sector, facilitating growth and development of the local IT industry and bridging the digital divide.

  Mr. Terick Chiu

Gartner

As an Executive Partner for the Gartner Executive Programs, Terick works with CIOs across North Asia supporting Hong Kong, Taiwan and China, assisting CIOs in many first tier organisations in a wide range of strategic information technology decision matters. Terick is responsible for providing personal advisory to CIOs from IT strategy formation, positioning of IT organisation, technology selection to IT organisation transformation.

Prior to joining Gartner, Terick was the Asia Pacific Regional IT Director for MindShare and GroupM, the largest and leading advertising media group in Asia Pacific supporting 25 offices and 3000 users. Key achievements included leading the transformation of the IT operation to support rapid business growth and established best practice IT operation processes across the whole Asia Pacific region.

Previously, Terick also took on regional management roles in a number of companies including MRO Software in Asia and IBM Global Services in Australia providing IT advisory and services to many leading organizations in Asia Pacific.

Terick has a degree in Computer Science from University of Sydney and a post graduate degree with Australia Graduate School of Management.

 
 
 
  Mr. Luca Silipo

Natixis

Luca Silipo, 41, is currently Managing Director, Chief Economist for Asia-Pacific at Natixis, based in Hong Kong.

He is a graduate of the University La Sapienza of Rome and of the Graduate Institute for International Studies in Geneva. His thesis was on the microstructure of financial markets, more specifically on the volatility spillovers between foreign exchange and equity markets.

He began his career in 1998 as analyst and trader at JP Morgan Suisse in Geneva.

In 1999, he became monetary economist at the research department of Bank of Italy in Roma. Within the Monetary Analysis department of the Italian Central Bank he contributed to several projects and was part of the team in charge of briefing Bank of Italy officials participating at ECB monetary policy meetings. He was leading a team of economists on a research on money demand in the euro area. Furthermore he co-authored a study on demand for daily balances by the euro are banks, with a focus on intra-day demand for liquidity from banks within the reserve requirement period.

In 2001, he moved to Banca IMI, first as a senior economist in Milan and London, then as head of macroeconomic research in New York.

In 2005, he became director economist for EMU of Ixis Corporate & Investment Bank.

From 2007 to early 2008, prior to moving to Hong Kong, he has been Head of economics, managing director at the research department of Natixis.

Geoff has over 25 years' experience in Information Technology and Telecommunications (IT&T), having held senior roles or consulting extensively in a number of industry sectors; notably in Telecommunications, Petroleum, IT, Finance, Defence, Retail and Hospitality. Always having a strong technology focus, Geoff has held traditional IT&T staff roles as well as broader R&D, strategic marketing and corporate planning positions.

From 2000, Geoff was the Group Enterprise Architect for Dairy Farm International (DFI); then the VP Technology - Hotel Development for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group (MOHG) until mid-2010; he continues to provide IT governance services to DFI's and MOHG's parent company, Jardine Matheson Limited.

Professionally Geoff's very strong background in Enterprise Architecture led naturally to IT strategy, governance and risk management. His successful transition into broader management roles outside of IT as a Business-Technology professional has heightened his understanding of the challenges faced by organisations in achieving convergence, not just alignment, of IT with the business.

Geoff is a well-respected technology commentator in the Asia Pacific region especially in the areas of IT strategy, security and governance. Geoff is an Australian, married with two children and lives in Hong Kong. He holds a MBA in Finance from the University of Technology Sydney and is a Member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association), a Senior Member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS); and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Henk ten Bos is Chief Information Officer at Ageas (formally Fortis) and since 2009 responsible for managing the IT activities of the life insurance company in Hong Kong. He also provides regional support on Operations and IT to the joint ventures of Ageas in Asia.

Before moving to Hong Kong his previous assignment in Asia has been for Etiqa Insurance & Takaful (a joint venture between Ageas and Maybank) in Malaysia where he has setup a Business Analyst department to support a large IT transformation plan.

Prior to joining Ageas Henk has worked for IG&H Consulting & Interim, a specialized consultancy firm in The Netherlands, where he had a special focus on implementing Front End and Straight Through Processing solutions for Insurance companies. Henk has been active in the Insurance industry for almost 20 years with an ongoing focus on business/ICT alignment.

Reporting locally to the Pacific Group President, and leveraging a shared service model, Pom is responsible for the strategic management and delivery of all IT products and services in 4 Business units (Japan, Greater China & Korea, ASEAN and South Pacific) across 28 markets which are economically and culturally very diverse. With a focus on simplification and innovation, Pom is always challenged to deliver differentiating business capabilities and solutions including process change whilst ensuring an enhanced user experience. Mr. Jojo Dionaldo has accumulated 18 years of IT career experience and exposures in different industries executing multiple aspects of IT responsibilities and deliverables. He has strong experience and knowledge in managing IT organization on its different phase of evolution from an early stage of starting anew IT organization, leading a matured IT organization and merging of multiple and different IT organizations as a result of M&A exercise of the business.

He has gained extensive experience and knowledge in IT outsourcing and in-sourcing execution and discipline as he has been heavily involved in many years of his IT career.

His skills were further developed and enhanced from 12 years of overseas assignments in different industries applying diverse IT strategies in a multi-cultural environment to execute IT transformations and new ways of thinking from a typical report generator and order taker IT organization to a business enabler and partner.

He graduated with a degree of B.S. Computer Engineering from Adamson University in Manila. He finished his Project Management from Asian Institute of Management (AIM). He continuously develops his business acumen from the collective years of his personal and professional experience. He has filled various roles in local and overseas assignments, wearing multiple hats as Head and Project Manager of different Enterprise Systems and Applications implementation and roll-out. A hands-on manager and technical expert in managing, running and implementing multiple IT domains in different IT facets of verticals such as Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing and now in Retail industry.

He is Certified PRINCE 2 Practitioner and knowledgeable in PMI Framework that provides complimentary skills of both project management framework and methodologies, a Champion and Certified Lead Auditor in Quality Management Systems and Information Security and IT Service Management. He is also an ITIL Certified Practitioner and knowledgeable in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).

  Mr. Michael Janich

Michael Janich lives in Hong Kong since 1995, worked for IDC, ZiCorp, Merrill Lynch and served RawMart.com from September 1999, a global raw material trading portal, as Chief Technology Officer. In 2001 he moved to its parent company, the Noble Group as Chief Technology Officer. Michael left the group at the end of 2003 to further his education with a PhD degree in plant molecular biology at The University of Hong Kong. He rejoined the Noble Group in 2007. Mr. Janich won twelve awards for software projects. In 2011 he joined a former sub-division of Noble Group, Fleet Management Ltd. in the role of CIO.

 
 
 
  Mr. Sunny W K Lee

The Hong Kong Jockey Club

Mr Sunny W K Lee joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club as Executive Director, Information Technology in July 2006. Mr Lee heads a team of about 500 IT professionals, to provide innovative technology solutions that contribute significantly to the Club's mission and strategic objectives.

Mr Lee has extensive IT experience gained in both Hong Kong and overseas. Prior to joining the Jockey Club, he spent 10 years at the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) where he was an Executive Committee Member and held a number of key positions at the Company, including Chief Information Officer of the Group and Chief Executive Officer of two strategic diversification businesses, iCare.com Limited and Towngas Telecommunications Company Limited.

Between 1990 to 1996, Mr Lee was Vice President and Systems Director of the Bank of America in Hong Kong, where he played a key role in building up IT capabilities to support the Bank's business expansion in Asia. He has also previously held key IT positions in the financial, management consulting and manufacturing industries in the USA.

Mr Lee has a long record of serving in many high level advisory committees in the academic, professional and community arena. As well as being a member of the Hong Kong SAR Digital 21 Advisory Committee, Mr Lee is Immediate Past President of the Hong Kong Computer Society. He was a recipient of Hong Kong's Ten Outstanding Young Digi Persons Award in 1999, the Asia CIO Award in 2002 and 2007, the China Top CIO Award in 2007, 2009 Asian IT Influencer by MIS Asia Magazine, and 2009 China Best Value CIO Award.

Mr Lee was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 2010 and was a torchbearer for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games torch relay in Hong Kong, representing Hong Kong's IT achievers.

As VP IT of Johnson Controls Building Efficiency Business in Asia, Max partners with the regional management team to ensure alignment of business objectives and technology solutions. His responsibilities include providing guidance and thought leadership in systems and process, and functioning as a change agent in the implementation of new technology solution and innovation.

Max joined Johnson Controls in 2001, and has held several senior management positions both regionally and globally. In 2008, Leng-Jin left Johnson Controls to join VF Corporation, a leading lifestyle apparel and footwear company with over 30 including Lee, The North Face, and Vans; but returned to Johnson Controls after 2 years.

Max specializes in business technology strategies, technology innovations, project management and complex system implementation; and continues to look at ways to commercialize internal technology solutions to contribute to the top line growth.

Having worked in the US and Europe for some years, Max's ability to integrate global processes and approaches with the understanding of the local mindset, has proven to be a great asset to multinational companies in Asia. Geof is a partner in Mayer Brown's Business & Technology Sourcing (BTS) practice and leads the BTS practice in Asia. He has broad experience in sourcing transactions, including the outsourcing and offshoring of information technology and services as well as of business processes. His experience in the area of information technology procurement and outsourcing transactions includes transactions involving infrastructure, applications maintenance, development and support, network management, telecommunications services, and help desk functions, as well as implementation and integration of major enterprise applications and systems. His experience in the outsourcing of business processes includes outsourcing human resources, finance and accounting, procurement, customer relationship management, and other business functions.

Geof has represented clients in a wide range of industries, including financial services, health care, consumer products, telecommunications, advertising and publishing, airline, manufacturing, chemical, energy, information technology, mining and natural resources, as well as governmental entities. His clients have ranged from start-up enterprises to national and global firms. He has worked with clients in all geographies.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2001, Geof worked for over 10 years for Electronic Data Systems Corporation in various senior legal capacities, including five years as international general counsel with responsibility for all legal support requirements of EDS' non-US business.

Geof has been praised for his "incredible speed and accuracy" (Chambers USA 2010) and his "excellent business sense - his business judgment is as valuable on points as his legal judgment, so when it comes to negotiations, he always meets the other side's arguments head-on" (Chambers USA 2007).   Mr. Dev R. Kohol

Based in Hong Kong, Dev is currently responsible for Morgan Stanley's Enterprise Computing platform across Asia. This includes all distributed servers, storage, backup, database and web technology primarily supporting the Firm's institutional securities business.

Dev joined Morgan Stanley in 1992 in New York, as a mainframe developer, but transferred to the distributed database group in 1994 where he designed, built and supported infrastructure to manage the Firm's relational database platforms. In 2001 Dev moved to Tokyo where he first managed the Asia database group and then also the windows and unix/linux groups. In 2005 Dev returned to New York to set up the MSSQL and MSAS engineering teams. In 2007 Dev transferred to Hong Kong to lead application migration projects across Asia and in 2009 assumed his current position.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley Dev worked as a mainframe programmer for IBM and Bristol City Council in the UK.

Dev holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Bristol University.

Ashley has held diverse leadership assignments in Technology and Operations at both Global and Country levels during his 7 years with the Bank. He is an experienced technology leader with a deep understanding of Asian markets having lived and worked in several Asian capitals.

Currently as CIO for Hong Kong, Ashley is responsible for all banking operations, systems development and technology support. Prior to Hong Kong, Ashley was CIO for Thailand & Vietnam. Ashley has a passion for developing high potential leaders and mentors several executives.

Thomas Dillon; CHTP (Certified Hotel Technical Professional) is a graduate of UNLV (Nevada Las Vegas) with a degree in Computer Technology. In his current capacity of the Vice President for IT-Asia, for the Las Vegas Sands Corp, over the past 5 years he oversaw the openings of the Venetian Macau, Plaza Casino (next to the Four Seasons Macau) and the Marina Bay Sands located in Singapore. He is currently working with the IT team, Venetian Operations and Hotel Partners (Sheraton/Shangri-La) to open a 6,000 room Resort in Macau. In addition he is responsible for existing properties located in the region (which includes the Venetian Macau, Sands Macau and Plaza Casino located at the Four Seasons). He manages a team of IT Professionals that are responsible for selection, integration and installation of Data/Voice Networks, security as well as a countless applications for Casino, Hotel and Back of House that comprise what has best been described as a ˇ§City within a Cityˇ¨ for these mega resorts. Prior to his time with the Venetian Group, Tom worked for 24 years with Hilton Hotels Corporation where he led a team in charge of new technologies.

Patrick joined Wallem in December 1992. He is responsible for Information Technology, including business process management, for the group worldwide. In 2000 he was responsible for establishing Wallem Group's Software Development and Business Process Off-shoring Centre in the Philippines, WIS Clark. This facility provides Wallem, its clients and third parties cost effective world class systems development and process management. Patrick is the past Chairman of the Intertanko IT Committee, and a keen advocate of intra-industry Information Technology and software development collaboration.

Jonathan Andresen is Director of Product Marketing at Blue Coat Systems, Asia-Pacific. Mr. Andresen has been working in the telecommunications sector since 1996 and relocated to Asia in 2003. Prior to joining Blue Coat Systems, Mr. Andresen held various marketing, strategy and business development management positions in Nortel's Wireless and Optical Business Units. Mr. Andresen's career includes positions with Teleglobe, MetroPhotonics and Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Mr. Andresen holds a Master's Degree of International Management from Carleton University in Canada. Located in Bangkok, Mr. Andresen also serves as the Vice-President of the Thai-Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Ivan Tang joined CITIC Telecom CPC (formerly known as CPCNet Hong Kong Limited) in February 2004 as Sales Director of General Business unit and was promoted as Senior Vice President, Sales in March 2007, supervising sales teams in both Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Prior to joining CITIC Telecom CPC, Mr. Tang worked for Legend Expert Limited, subsidiaries of Lenovo group, as the Managing Director of Hong Kong region. In the past 18 years, he has extensive experience of working in companies in Hong Kong, such as AT&T, Olivetti and Standard Chartered Bank. He has managed businesses of different aspects, such as e-commerce, government and education, as well as corporate market. His experience spans from banking to IT and telecommunication sectors.

Mr. Tang has graduated from the University of Toronto majoring in Computer Science.

 
 
 
  Mr. Edwin Ng

Edwin has spent 15 years of his career managing storage business and the latest role in Dell responsible for growing the storage business from SMB to large corporate segments and the government sector in Asia Pacific and Japan region. In line with Dell's focus on storage as part of their growth strategy, he is tasked to bring the benefits of Dell's many storage investments over the past few years to our existing and new customers.

Prior to joining Dell, Edwin was the Director of Business Critical Server Channel Sales in APJ ESSN, HP. Under his portfolio, he was responsible for expansion of the business via all existing and new partners in the distribution, reseller and system integration space.

Edwin spent a majority part of his enterprise career in StorageTek and Sun Microsystems where he was managing regional storage sales in Singapore and Malaysia. In this role, he took on challenges of growing new market such as broadcasting and healthcare industries for storage solutions. He went on to overall country business management in Singapore and his last role was channel/alliance sales across countries in South Asia.

Edwin is a graduate of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore with a degree in Bachelor of Applied Science (Computer Engineering).

Andrew joined as a founding member of the FXGS Asia Pacific Regional Head Office since 2004 from Australia, and has been instrumental in the strategic planning, design and deployment of Fuji Xerox Global Services across Asia Pacific. Andrew has over 19 years of professional experience in consulting, sales and marketing, specializing in enterprise document-related infrastructure managed services and outsourcing. He is also a frequent speaker at many industry events on information management, enterprise print optimization and document outsourcing. Andrew has a Bachelor of Applied Economics and Marketing degree from Deakin University in Australia.

Steve East is an advisor to Hitachi Data Systems' largest global customers on business-driven storage architectures, best practices and innovations in technology, and IT operations that can improve the consumption, management and exploitation of SAN, NAS, and other storage infrastructure technologies. He has held various leadership roles at Hitachi Data Systems, including Vice President of Solution Development and Director of Performance Management. He recently acted as the chief architect of a 2-year global storage project for a major customer in the energy sector.

Prior to joining Hitachi Data Systems in 1998, East spent 16 years with Amdahl Corporation, where he held technical roles in support, sales, and R&D and management roles in system test, technical marketing, and technology research. Since joining Hitachi Data Systems, he has worked to develop open standards for storage management and to drive a customer-oriented solution delivery approach, leveraging technology with partners to solve complex customer problems. He conceived and drove the development of HiCommand Device Manager, bringing Hitachi Data Systems' first storage management product to market in 2001.

 
 
 
  Mr. Scott Tam

Huawei Symantec Technologies Co. Ltd

Scott joined Huawei Symantec in 2008 at the start-up stage and was responsible for directing channel business development across six regions, including Asia Pacific, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and Europe. Under his leadership, Huawei Symantec's international channel sales have grown annually by over 70 percent. Scott's most recent effort is to develop Huawei Symantec business in the Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan region.

Over the past 15 years, Scott has held regional responsibilities in both technical and strategic capacities with other major technology vendors such as Newbridge Networks, Huawei Technologies, and Cisco Systems. He holds a BASc degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa (Canada), an MPhil degree in Information Engineering and a Global EMBA degree, both from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Scott has been a member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (previously the IEE) since 1993, and a licensed Professional Engineer (PEng) in Canada.

Based in Singapore, CK manages the Juniper Networks Enterprise Solutions for Asia Pacific and is responsible for evangelizing leading-edge solutions including the Data Center and Security solutions to customers and partners in the region.

CK has more than 15 years of experience in the IT industry covering technologies from security solutions to wireless solutions. Prior to joining Juniper, CK was with IBM GTS team as a sales specialist for network infrastructure solutions. While he was with Intel for 5 years, he was the Technical Marketing Engineer for Intel's network products division covering the APAC region supporting product managers for switches and routers.
