Mr. Tom Mouhsian Principal Advisor, Financial Services (Singapore) and Customer & Growth Practice Lead (ASEAN) KPMG
Tom leads KPMG's "Customer & Growth" practice in ASEAN and is also a senior member of KPMG's Management Consulting based in Singapore. As part of his scope, Tom is keen on Customer Experience, disruptive innovations, "next practice" strategy concepts and business transformations primarily for (but not limited to) the financial services sector, including consumer banks and insurance companies.
Expand
His notable experience includes:
- Designing a ground-breaking concept of "government retail" and then helping to implement a full-scale, national revamp of citizen services, resulting in a supermarket-like service model for all types services rendered to citizens. Recognized by the United Nations (2012) as the most innovative public service concept, the project took 11 months from idea to pilot and then a subsequent nationwide roll-out using a retail-like network administered by a government entity. Together with digital archives, state-of-the-art authentication and security frameworks, waste-busting lean processes, multi-channel service and processing, a best-in-class and hospitality-inspired service model, airport-like journey-mapping and navigation, and lastly experiential theme design for customer journeys - this concept has truly revolutionized the way a government treats and serves its "customers".
- Creating and implementing a strategy of turning a consumer electronics retailer into a bank (both consumer and corporate). This entailed a staged business transformation with gradual adoption of "financial services" into the day-to-day operations and creation of a co-brand. With roughly 25M customers at the retailer level, the parent company was able to quickly materialize the infusion of "financial services", showing tremendous volume of growth that had a disruptive effect on the market. A robust partnership network, a unique online/mobile platform for retail shopping with rewards and bonuses, digital payment capabilities, instant P2P transfers, best-in-class plastic cards, and well-trained retail staff ensured success that has led to multiple JV's and a number of foreign investors. (a similar project was later carried out for a telecom/ISP)
- Producing and then helping to implement a multi-year transformation of a large universal bank in E. Europe including its products, operations, distribution channels and organizational structure. This involved a turn-key overhaul of the bank's retail business. At the end of the implementation program, of which 3 years were actively managed and the remaining 2 - partially managed, the bank captured 7,5M new and active retail customers, achieved 460% increase in net profit, ranked #1 in assets among retail banks in its home country, #1 in profitability, #1 in market share (excluding government-owned banks).
