Alan is currently a Head of Government Infocomm Security/Senior Assistant Director with the Ministry of Communications & Information. Being in the expert's team of a National ICT Security, he is also overseeing whole-of-government (WOG) level ICT Security for the public sector. He has served the Singapore Government in providing IT Security Consultancy work to the various agencies during his early years and was one of the team leads in organizing the Singapore's largest IT Security event, Government Ware, for two consecutive years. In ICT Security Education, he has lectured in a Singapore Government Institution to impart his IT security knowledge to the future generations. Being a passionate advocate in the field of IT Security, Alan acts as an Advisor in the IT Security Interest Group for like-minded individuals to share with one another on topics concerning IT Security. He is also Advisor for the National University of Singapore – Association of Information Security Professional (NUS-AISP) Student Charter.
Alan graduated with a Master of Science (MSc) in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London, UK. He holds IT Security-related certifications from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)² and the Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA) as a CISSP and CRISC respectively.
Alan is an (ISC)² Exam Supervisor in officiating the Consortium associated certifications examinations. In 2009, he was recognized as an (ISC)² Information Security Leadership Achievements (ISLA) Honouree in the category of 'IT Security Practitioner'. In 2012, Alan becomes the founding leader and first president of (ISC)² Singapore Chapter.
