Claus Mortensen is the Principal for IDC's Emerging Technology Advisory Services - including the Digital Marketplace & New Media program. He is based in IDC's Asia/Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.

As a founding member of IDC's Emerging Technologies Council, Claus' main focus is to identify 'The Next Big Thing' in the ITC space as well as explore the impact of Web 2.0 and New Media in the Asian Digital Marketplace.

Claus was previously Research Manager in IDC's Asia/Pacific Telecommunications research program with more than 8 years of experience in the area.

Prior to joining IDC, Claus had extensive telecom research experience working as an analyst for Informa Telecoms Group in London and subsequently in Hong Kong, covering mobile telecoms in Europe and Asia. He also worked on and led various projects covering mobile data usage in Europe, mobile handset production and reverse logistics in China and Mobile Number Portability around the world.

Before becoming a telecoms analyst, Claus was a Legal Officer with the Danish telecoms regulator where he was in charge of the Danish public tenders for two TETRA radio networks and consulted on 2G and 3G tenders and auctions. He also worked on Danish and European Union regulatory reforms representing Denmark in European Union and ITU meetings.

Claus is often quoted in regional and local publications like Reuters, The Deal and Hong Kong and Singapore newspapers. He has also appeared on CNBC and Bloomberg TV.

Claus holds a Master's degree in Law from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Mr. Toa Charm ('Toa' in short) has over 20 years of management, marketing and consulting experience in the information technology industry. Currently, Toa is the Regional Head of Business Intelligence Competence Centre (BICC), Asia Pacific, HSBC. His mission is to empower HSBC Asia Pacific to compete and operate effectively with world-class business intelligence best practices and transform the company into a data-driven enterprise.

Before joining HSBC, Toa was the General Manager of Oracle Business Intelligence where he managed the business intelligence solutions business and operations in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan for Oracle. Before joining Oracle, he was the General Manager of Kingdee Software Asia Pacific. Before joining Kingdee, he was the Managing Director of Hyperion Solutions Greater China. Toa also worked for Jardine Pacific and a few major US-based software companies in various management, marketing and consulting positions.

Toa actively serves the Hong Kong, China and Asia Pacific commuies through participating major business, IT and academic associations in these regions. He is the founder and present Chairperson of the Business Intelligence Special Interest Division (BISID) of the Hong Kong Computer Society. In addition, Toa is an Honorable Advisor of Hong Kong Polytechnic University - Department of Computing, an advisor of the Hong Kong Computer Society - Industry Policy Advisory Group, an Honorable Advisor of The University of Hong Kong - the External Advisory Board of Information Systems Association and an Honorary Associate of Hong Kong Baptist University - the School of Business. Toa often shares his management experiences with senior executives in Hong Kong, China and the US through seminars, conferences and executive training programs. Toa served the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (China Trade Advisory Board) as an appointed advisor from 2005 to 2008.

Toa possesses a M.A. degree in Business Administration and B.Sc. degree in Computer Science. He is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Business Administration (DBA) at the City University of Hong Kong and his research area is Business Intelligence. Toa completed a Senior Executive program in the HAAS School of Business of the University of California at Berkeley in the US and a Strategic Human Resources Management program of the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in China. He started with the Savills Group of companies working for Byvan (property management arm of Savills Australia) being involved in development and maintenance of various in-house IT systems.

He transferred to the Savills Hong Kong office in November 2001 and became involved in analysing, designing and developing Savills MIS systems for the Savills group of companies in the Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Scheckler has 18 years experience in the Asia Pacific region having held senior IT roles including Asia Pacific head of Technology Infrastructure at Credit Suisse and Japan Region Head of Technology Infrastructure at Citigroup.

Mr. Scheckler holds M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California Berkeley, and B.S.E.E. and B.A. degrees from the University of Notre Dame. He has also published several articles and book chapters in the fields of semiconductor manufacturing, nanotechnology, and on his experiences working in a Japanese company.

Joe Locandro is Director - Group Information Technology and is responsible for the formulation and execution of the CLP Group IT strategy throughout the region. CLP is one of the largest investor-owned power businesses in the Asia-Pacific electric power sector.

CLP operates a vertically integrated electricity supply business in Hong Kong. Outside Hong Kong, CLP is the largest external investor in the Chinese mainland electricity industry, and a leading international private sector power company in the Asia-Pacific region with an integrated energy business in Australia and interests in generating assets in India, Taiwan and Thailand.

In his role, Locandro drives IT synergy across CLP Group's investments and ensures that IT is aligned with the current and future business needs of CLP throughout the region.

His key focus areas include strategic systems development, Group IT strategy and policy formulation, IT infrastructure, and developing initiatives that are critical to enhancing the Group's overall performance.

A veteran in IT management, consulting and marketing, Locandro's career includes positions with a number of international blue-chip organisations. Locandro has held a variety of Chief Information Officer positions in various industry sectors from energy to entertainment. He joined the utility sector in 2002, as Chief Information Officer for Yallourn Energy - Auspower Ltd in Australia until he joined CLP in May 2004.

A native of Australia, Locandro has spent most of his working life in Melbourne with various secondments overseas in Europe and North America. Michael Leung was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Bank of America (Asia) in March 2000. In this capacity, he manages the Bank's IT function in its entirety, including business systems design and development, project management, as well as production systems support and data center operations. In addition, Mr Leung is also in charge of operations planning, product services and corporate administration departments of the Bank.

Mr Leung has over 28 years' local and international experience in information technology, specializing in the banking and finance industry. Before joining Bank of America (Asia), he was a senior manager at Standard Chartered Bank, overseeing service delivery systems as well as acquisition & merger activities for its Consumer Banking division in the Asia Pacific region. Previously, Mr Leung was the head of the Business Research and Development department at the Dao Heng Bank, responsible for developing new business models and distribution channels for retail banking products and services.

Prior to his banking assignments, Mr Leung was a managing consultant at IBM Consulting Group and Price Waterhouse Management Consulting Services in Hong Kong and Australia. Immediately after his post-graduate study in Holland, Mr Leung spent nearly 10 years with the Dutch Philips Telecommunications and Data Systems, involving in the development and pre-sales support of banking terminals and transactions processing systems.

Mr Leung holds a Master degree in Engineering from The Netherlands Universities Foundation and a Bachelor of Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In his over two decades of professional career, Mr Leung has attended executive training at London Business School, MIT Sloan School of Management, an honor diploma from Graduate School of Retail Bank Management of University of Virginia, among others. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Computer Society and member of several professional bodies, and a seasoned speaker on a range of business and IT topics in regional conferences.

Pack Ling has assumed the Chief Information Officer of General Electric (GE) China since Jul 2006. He directs the IT strategies of the company and leads the IT function of over 200 professionals and 800 outsource engineers in Greater China region.

Pack joined GE in July 1996 as a management trainee of Information Management Leadership Program (IMLP). He led 5 office relocation projects and established the Asia-wide shared email server during his trainee time. Upon his graduation from program, Pack accepted the role as Asia IT Project Leader in GE Capital where he got an achievement award for his contribution to a few business acquisition projects in Asia.

In Jan 2000, he was promoted to lead dual regional roles - Asia IMLP Program Manager and Asia End-User Computing (EUC) Leader. In 2 years time, he grew the trainee program from 40 to over 100 members while he outsourced the whole Asia EUC operation to external vendors. In 2002, he was named as the Asia Pole Leader of Corporate Information Service Department, leading an operation to provide IT shared services for over 50,000 employees in Asia. He had implemented multiple IT solutions in the region including Oracle Financial, electronic travel claim and electronic leave systems. He had also outsourced the regional Payroll platform and established IT Security Council for Asia in this role.

Pack received a B.Sc. in Computer Science from University of Hong Kong in 1996, M.A. in Chinese Politics from Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2005.

Sunny Chan is the Regional IT Director - Asia Pacific of LVMH Asia Pacific Limited. He is responsible for leading the Group's IT organization in Asia Pacific, managing the Group's common IT infrastructure and defining the Group's IT strategy for Asia Pacific. Sunny has 20 years experience in IT and Communication industry. He had worked for several local/international vendors and enterprises, including HP Consulting, Wharf T&T and Ericsson. In his current and previous jobs, Sunny had worked on different roles including consulting for enterprise customers and in-house IT management. He had also led many major IT projects in different areas, for example, VOIP projects, corporate network implementation projects and e-application development projects.

Sunny graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor Degree in Electronics Engineering. After graduation, Sunny started his career in Canada as a software engineer and then continued his work in Hong Kong. Then he has held several positions in different international vendors and enterprises in HK, including Regional IT Manager, Consulting Team Manager and Solution Team Manager. Sunny also has a MBA Degree from the University of Strathclyde.

Sunny is the member of several professional associations. He is a Professional Engineer of Canada, a Chartered Engineer of IET UK, and a full member of Hong Kong Computer Society.

Mr Sunny W K Lee joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club as Executive Director, Information Technology in July 2006. Mr Lee heads a team of over 430 IT professionals, to provide innovative technology solutions that contribute significantly to the Club's mission and strategic objectives.

Mr Lee has extensive IT experience gained in both Hong Kong and overseas. Prior to joining the Jockey Club, he spent 10 years at the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) where he was an Executive Committee Member and held a number of key positions at the Company, including Chief Information Officer of the Group and Chief Executive Officer of two strategic diversification businesses, iCare.com Limited and Towngas Telecommunications Company Limited.

Between 1990 to 1996, Mr Lee was Vice President and Systems Director of the Bank of America in Hong Kong, where he played a key role in building up IT capabilities to support the Bank!|s business expansion in Asia. He has also previously held key IT positions in the financial, management consulting and manufacturing industries in the USA.

Mr Lee takes time to serve in many high level advisory committees in the academic, professional and community arena, and is currently President of the Hong Kong Computer Society as well as a member of the Hong Kong SAR Digital 21 Advisory Committee. In 1999, he was a recipient of Hong Kong!|s Ten Outstanding Young Digi Persons Award for his contributions to IT. He has received two CIO Awards from CIO Asia Magazine, the first in 2002 and again in 2007 for the Club!|s Veterinary Management Information System. Mr Lee is also a recipient of the 2007 China Top CIO Award, awarded by CEOCIO China Magazine and IDC (China).

Prior to joining BCG, Mr. Yin worked for A.T. Kearney for 10 years where he was the General Manager of the Hong Kong office and also lead the Financial Services and IT practice in Greater China. Charles Cheng has been with Trend Micro since June 2000 and has worked in a number of different roles, as software engineer, architect, and manager. As an engineering contributor, he was deeply involved with the design and development of a wide range of enterprise-class security products from Trend Micro. Before coming to Asia to take on new business responsibilities, Charles was Global Senior Director of Product Development for Enterprise Business Unit within Trend Micro and was responsible for managing R&D teams located in Cupertino, Nanjing, and Taipei.

Before joining Trend Micro, Charles had worked on developing high-throughput automation and data analysis systems for the global Human Genome Project to produce a complete DNA sequence of the human genome. Charles also co-founded a Boston area software startup developing online educational software, and was also involved in the development of the market-leading object database system, in addition to working as a consultant to several pharmaceutical and software companies.

Charles is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received dual Bachelor's Degrees in biology and in computer science, and a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.


Chris Chau

Prior to that, he spent five years as a Technical Marketing Engineer for Intel's Network Products Division covering the APAC region and supporting the product managers for switches, routers, SSL accelerators and Server Load Balancers. He also held various technical positions in Novell and Singapore Computer Systems before that.

Dr. Wang is Vice President of China Development Laboratories (CDL). In addition to, the responsibility as the head of North Asia Pacific development lab cluster which includes China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, he leads over 5000 software engineers and architects in Beijing, Shanghai, and Taipei, building IBM middleware products (WebSphere, Lotus, Information Management, Tivoli and Rational) and providing leading edge industry solutions to enable customer success.

In his previous role, Dr. Wang was Vice President of Technical Sales and Services, IBM Software Group Asia Pacific, leading a team over 2000 IT Specialists and Architects to provide technical solutions based on IBM middleware products. Before he came to Asia Pacific, Dr. Wang was a Director of Silicon Valley Lab where he led High Performance On-Demand Solutions (HiPODS) organization.

Dr. Wang has a broad experience inside IBM. Before he joined Software Group, he was in IBM Research as Executive Assistant to Senior Vice President of Research Worldwide. He was responsible for Technical Team studies on several strategic corporate directions and led an Innovation Frontiers task force for National Innovation Initiative sponsored by the U.S. President. His other contributions are in the areas of On-Demand Innovation Services, Global Technology Outlook, and Emerging Business Opportunities for IBM and Global IT industry. Before that, Dr. Wang was a Certified Senior Project Executive in IBM Global Services managing multi-billion dollar accounts in Process Petroleum, Automotive, and Electronic Industries. Before that, he was Chief Architect in charge of Global Supply Chain for IBM Personal System Group.

Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from George Washington.
